A visit to Etosha National Park opened my eyes. Seeing wild animals up close was captivating. You drive over dusty roads and suddenly there are elephants in front of you. A feeling as if the world stands still. Incredibly beautiful to still be able to experience this at 54.
Swakopmund, the coastal town, has its own unique charm. German colonial history meets African lightness. Definitely try the apple strudel there, it was heavenly!
And then the people! Their warmth and openness deeply touched me. Often, I sat with locals by the campfire in the evenings. Stories were told, and there was much laughter. Unforgettable moments.
The contrasts of the country are astonishing. One day a desert, the next day fertile landscapes. Mountainous, barren, lush green – everything is there. The feeling of freedom was omnipresent.
