How warm is the Polish Baltic Sea?

The water temperatures of the Polish Baltic Sea present a multifaceted phenomenon that is heavily influenced by seasonal conditions. In the summer months, especially between June and August, visitors enjoy a pleasant refreshment as the water temperatures during this period average between 17°C and 22°C. It is this time when the Baltic Sea becomes a magnet for sunbathers and water enthusiasts.

However, with the onset of Autumn months, a noticeable temperature drop announces itself. As early as September, the mercury begins to slowly decline, and the water temperatures reach around 15°C. Taking a dip in the Baltic Sea now requires some resilience. As October and November progress, the water continues to cool, officially marking the end of the bathing season.

Winter reveals a completely different aspect of the Polish Baltic Sea. In the coldest months – December to February – the water temperatures range between about 2°C and 4°C, far from the inviting warmth of summer. Icy winds dominate, and occasionally, one can even observe the formation of thin ice layers along the coast.

With spring awakening in March, the water gradually warms again, but temperatures with an average of 5°C to 10°C remain refreshingly cool. Only in late spring does the Baltic Sea return to its more pleasant temperatures, ready to capture the hearts of beachgoers once again in the upcoming summer.
