Why does Lake Garda have so little water?

Lake Garda has so little water because it belongs to the glacial lakes. This type of Lake is formed by the melting of glaciers during the last ice age. Due to its origin, Lake Garda has a limited amount of water compared to other lakes that, for example, have River sources as their main water source. Since Lake Garda is dependent on its surroundings, its water level is highly influenced by the amount of rainfall in the region. In years with low rainfall, the water level of the Lake can therefore significantly drop. The natural inflows to Lake Garda are limited, which leads to the Lake being susceptible to fluctuations in water levels. This explains why Lake Garda has relatively little water compared to other lakes.
